Play Hockey Model

Play Hockey Model

The Recreational Hockey Model has been renamed to the Play Hockey Model by Hockey Alberta.

The Play Hockey Model, and the three streams within it, ensures families have access to affordable, fun, and safe opportunities to participate in youth hockey with a moderate to low time and financial commitment.

PLAY HOCKEY MODEL GUIDE >

The Play Hockey Model emphasizes the values of sportsmanship, fun, fair play, friendship and respect, and provides clarity to the different streams that fall under it. The streams within the Play Hockey Model remain unchanged:

  • Rec Hockey
  • Pond Hockey
  • Learn to Play

The streams under the Play Hockey Model can be operated by MHAs or community organizations/non-MHAs. The Play Hockey Model Guide outlines the streams, their season structure and game play, and operational information for Organizations and MHAs to guide the implementation of these activity options within their communities.
