CALGARY – Hockey Canada is hosting several Pond to Podium events in conjunction with the centralized National Women’s Team two-game series versus the Professional Women’s Hockey Players’ Association (PWHPA) All-Stars, December 9-11.
The events will take place at Winsport’s Markin McPhail Centre in Calgary. The Pond to Podium sessions will include:
POND TO PODIUM PRE-GAME ATHLETE PANEL, PRESENTED BY CANADIAN TIRE
Thursday, December 9 | 5:30 – 6:15 P.M. | Winsport Canada Olympic Park
Participants will join a live question and answer panel discussion with two National Women’s Team athletes and two PWHPA athletes. Available to individuals 12 years of age and older. Attendance to the National Women’s Team versus PWHPA All-Stars game is included for all participants. Only 50 spots available.
POND TO PODIUM DEVELOPMENT SERIES COMMUNITY DAY, PRESENTED BY CANADIAN TIRE
Friday, December 10 | 4:30-8:30 P.M. | Winsport Canada Olympic Park
Participants will listen to a Q&A panel with National Team and PWHPA athletes, participate in an off-ice workout session, and a Joga (yoga for athletes) session. Available to U13, U15, and U18 girls. Each participant will receive an autographed National Women’s Team and PWHPA poster. Only 60 spots available.

WE ARE COACHES - COACH 1, PRESENTED BY THE HOCKEY CANADA FOUNDATION
Saturday, December 11 | 8 A.M. – 12 P.M. | Winsport Canada Olympic Park
Women-only coaching training, led by women. It shows you how to teach hockey’s basic skills while keeping the theme of practices with an emphasis on fun and fundamentals. Coach 1 reviews the basic tools you will need in the areas of leadership, communication, teaching skills, and lesson planning – all of this is taught with special consideration to the youngest athletes in mind. Attendance to the National Women’s Team versus PWHPA All-Stars game at 12 P.M. and lunch are included for all participants. Only 25 spots available.
The puck will drop on the sold-out games on December 9 at 7 P.M. and on December 11 at 12 noon.
Looking to take in the national squad in action? The Canadian National Team will be celebrating the new year in Edmonton versus the United States National Team on January 3. This will mark game 8 of the 9-game rivalry series. The teams will meet for the final time before the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games in Red Deer on January 6.

Proof of vaccination and identification must be presented when entering all Hockey Canada events. Masks must be worn at all times, unless eating or drinking.
