CALGARY - Team Saskatchewan scored three straight third period goals en-route to a 5-3 victory over Team Alberta on Saturday, sending Alberta to the bronze medal game at the 2019 WHL Cup.
After a scoreless first period, Saskatchewan opened the scoring four minutes into the second, but Rylen Roersma answered just over a minute later. Saskatchewan took the lead again on the powerplay, and Kaiden Ellertson tied things up for Team Alberta with his second goal of the tournament.
Tyler MacKenzie gave Alberta its first lead of the game just 28 seconds into the third period, but it was all Saskatchewan there, as they scored three third period goals to seal the 5-3 win.
Team Alberta netminder Nicholas Jones stopped 28 of 33 Saskatchewan shots in his second start of the WHL Cup.

Alberta will now face Team BC on Sunday morning in the bronze medal game at 9:30am. Saskatchewan will face Manitoba, who defeated BC 5-4 in Saturday’s other semi-final game, at 1:00pm. Both games are at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Winsport in Calgary.
