CALGARY - At a press conference on Wednesday, the Calgary Flames Foundation announced that the Hockey Alberta Foundation Every Kid Every Community program will receive an additional $50,000 donation. This donation is part of $1 million in donations to southern Alberta charities, an extension of the Calgary Flames Foundation COVID-19 Community Support Program. This brings the total distributed through the Calgary Flames Foundation COVID-19 Community Support Program to $2.4 million.
Present at the event to accept the donation were Tim Leer, Executive Director, Hockey Alberta Foundation and Hockey Alberta Foundation Director Graham MacLachlan. The Every Kid Every Community program has a goal of ensuring a pathway to play hockey for any child in Alberta who is interested in the sport.
“Since the creation of the Calgary Flames Foundation COVID-19 Community Support Program on March 21, we have had the privilege of seeing the amazing work charities in Calgary and southern Alberta have done to respond to a significant increase in need,” says Candice Goudie, Executive Director of the Calgary Flames Foundation. “It is thanks to Calgary Flames Foundation donors and participants of the online 50/50 program that this recent donation is possible.”
The mandate of the Calgary Flames Foundation is to improve the lives of southern Albertans through support of health and wellness, education and grassroots sports programs. Since the ownership group brought the team to Calgary in 1980 the Calgary Flames Foundation has injected millions into the community.
