Players were selected to the shortlist based on their overall play at the Team Alberta U18 spring camp in May, and at the Provincial Camp in Camrose, July 14-19. Forty-six players were invited to Camrose from the spring camp, and worked through high intensity on-ice sessions, as well as off-ice training and classroom sessions.
The summer camp was also an opportunity for the new coaching staff to start putting in place the overall framework and structure for the U18 Female program as the team works towards to the national championship in Huntsville, Ontario, November 4-8.
The staff for the team includes: Scott Rivett (head coach), Dan Auchenberg and Carla MacLeod (assistant coaches), Adam Tresoor (video coach), Amanda Tapp (goalie coach), FarahMukadam (athletic therapist), Deanna Esch (equipment manager), and Heather Osgood (strength and conditioning).
The shortlisted players will attend a fall camp in Fort Saskatchewan and Edmonton, September 25-27, prior to final decisions on the 20 players selected to the Team Alberta roster.
The national championship event brings together the top U18 female players from across Canada in an eight-team tournament that will feature teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario (Red and White), Quebec and Atlantic.
