The 2013 Hockey Alberta Foundation Golf Classic, presented by ATB Investor Services, is set to tee off July 29-30 at the Stewart Creek Golf Club in Canmore, Alberta.
The two day event kicks off Monday evening with a reception in support of the Every Kid, Every Community Fund. The night will include a silent and live auction with an assortment of NHL memorabilia, Golf and accommodations in Canmore, suite game tickets to the “Battle of Alberta” in Calgary, a trip to St. Louis and tickets to a Blues game, a Napa Valley wine trip and more up for grabs.
“The Every Kid, Every Community project is designed to give all kids an equal opportunity to play hockey,” said the Hockey Alberta Foundation’ Executive Director, Scott Robinson. “Helping organizations start programs aimed at getting youth to fall in love with Canada’s passion is an indescribable feeling.”
This year’s guest speakers are the new co-anchors of Fox Sports 1, Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole. The two were well known to Canadians as the co-anchors of Sportscentre on TSN.
On Tuesday morning, the golf tournament will get underway with a shotgun start at 9:00am followed by a BBQ dinner where tournament and hole prizes will be awarded courtesy of the Hockey Alberta Foundation’s generous sponsors.
“The habits kids learn when involved in sports are habits that can carry with a child throughout their lifetime,” said President of ATB Investor Services, Sheldon Dyck. “Not everyone will make a career out of playing sports, but the teamwork, goal-setting, leadership and other things that is learned when playing sports helps in so many other careers.”
Onrait and O’Toole will be joined by other celebrities such as Jordan Eberle (Edmonton Oilers), Zach Boychuk (Carolina Hurricanes), Thomas Hickey (New York Islanders), Ray Bennett (St. Louis Blues, Assistant Coach), Adam Cracknell (St. Louis Blues), Mike Commodore (Former Calgary Flame), Bill Peters (Detroit Red Wings, Assistant Coach) and Mel Davidson (Canadian National Women’s Team, Head Coach) and more!
“When we get a chance to bring some of the top hockey players and hockey minds to Alberta, it’s always a great chance to reunite and share experiences," said Hockey Alberta’s Senior Manager of Hockey Development, Tim Leer. “We’re proud of the talent that comes out of Alberta and every year the list of celebrities seems to get longer.”
