RED DEER - Team Alberta will play for a medal at the Canada Winter Games after a 3-0 victory over Manitoba in quarter-final action on Thursday afternoon.
After a scoreless first period, Teghan Inglis put Alberta on the board just over five minutes into the second with a powerplay goal, and Sarah Wozniewicz made it 2-0 late in the frame.
Team Alberta held off Manitoba throughout the third, and Wozniewicz scored her second of the game into an empty net to seal the 3-0 win.
Bella McKee put forth another strong performance in net for Alberta, stopping all 29 shots she faced for the shutout win. Manitoba netminder Raygan Kirk also made 29 saves while taking the loss.
Alberta draws up against British Columbia in the semi-finals Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Downtown Arena. The live stream of the game can be found here.
BC is undefeated in the tournament so far, and is coming off a 7-1 quarter-final win over New Brunswick.
The winner of the game will play for gold on Saturday at 12:30pm at the Downtown Arena, while the loser will play for Bronze at 9:00am.
