About the Games
The Alberta Winter Games take place every two years. The 2014 Alberta Winter Games run from February 6-9th. Young athletes from eight zones will participate in 22 sporting competitions in both locations. The Alberta Winter Games give athletes aged 11 to 17 the opportunity to participate in a multi-sport environment, much like the Olympics. For many of the selected athletes this will be their first taste of provincial level competition.
The 2014 Alberta Winter Games is the largest event to be held jointly by the two communities of Banff and Canmore and certainly one of the legacies of these games is this new relationship in the spirit of sport and co-operation.
